Why I don't call myself 'Plant-Based'

These days everyone has a name for the way they eat; paleo, keto, vegan, plant-based, flexitarian…to name a few. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to categorize yourself. I feel like it’s a great way to understand what works for you in regards to food. The diet industry is booming and everyone wants to know the latest fad to lose weight and be healthy at the same time. But, ya know what? There isn’t one diet or lifestyle name that will heal everyone.

I recently taught a class on what it means to be ‘plant-based.’ It’s kinda funny because I never considered myself to be that, but if you know me then you know how much I love my greens! I eat vegetables at every meal and not just because I should, but because I think they all taste delicious! Food doesn’t have to be complicated to be good. If you have seen my instagram, I make pretty simple meals. I do eat meat and I am obsessed with eggs, but I focus on getting the most out of my meals. I like to think everything I spend my money on is going to helping me stay healthy.

The most important thing, when it comes to eating, is finding out what makes you feel good! It doesn’t matter what you call yourself as long as you are doing it for the right reasons! If you want to try IF (intermittent fasting) or being keto, just please make sure you do your research. Also, if your digestion isn’t running smoothly then trying a new diet or lifestyle can have negative effects. There is a right way (healthy) and wrong way (unhealthy) to do every diet in the book. Take your time, do an elimination diet, heal your gut and focus on finding healing. Your mind, body and soul with thank you ;)

If you want help, I do one on one meetings with clients to help them find how to feel their best!
